With the aim to building sustainable education environment, the WorldKids International School – Campus 4 gained LOTUS Silver Certification on February 17th, 2017 with a total score of 46 points out of 80. This Campus is also the first building to receive LOTUS Small Buildings certification.

The Campus has successfully applied passive design principles such as having its main façade facing the north, installing sunshades and taking advantages of adjacent buildings as natural sunshades for east and west facades. This solution is of great help in reducing solar heat gains and material costs on thermal insulation. Additionally, the campus design emphasizes on providing sufficient fresh air supply and low-VOC paints in classrooms to ensure indoor air quality (IAQ) and children’s health. All lighting fixtures are efficient, air-conditioning systems have 4 stars according to the VNEEP labelling program and hot water is produced through a solar heating system, all these strategies contributing to low energy-consumption. Sanitary equipment and irrigation system with low flowrates help to save water.

 Furthermore, WorldKids pays close attention to landscape planning to guarantee green space and spacious playground for children. Especially, WorldKids also deepens children’s understanding about environmental protection through a wide range of waste classifying and recycling activities.
