The United Nations continue to support VGBC in promoting green building in Vietnam 2020-2021

The United Nations has renewed its membership program with the Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC), demonstrating the top global body’s strong commitment to the green building movement and continuous support for VGBC since 2010.

Climate actions and sustainable development goals (SDGs) have been the focus of the UN support to Vietnam. It has long been established that the building and construction section represent huge potentials for emission reductions. In particular, green buildings can be one of the most cost effective climate actions that is already economically and technically feasible, even for developing countries. Green buildings can also contribute to many SDGs, such as sustainable cities and communities, responsible consumption and production, affordable and clean energy, etc.

Leading by example, the UN’s headquarter building in Vietnam (the Green One UN House) is also one of the first to achieve the highest rating level under the LOTUS green building certification program.
