VGBC is pleased to announce that the British International School – Early Years Foundation Stage (BIS-EYFS) has officially been awarded LOTUS Certification.
This project provides a new building for the British International School EYFS, located in District 2, Ho Chi Minh City. The building includes one basement and four floors with one outdoor swimming pool and one large indoor swimming pool located in the basement.
BIS-EYFS project does not only provide facilities for teaching and learning but also includes several green and comfort features in its design. There is a green roof which provides a green environment for the children while taking advantage of all the sustainability benefits of green roofs. Moreover, the building was designed to create a pleasant ambiance in the building with views to the outside provided in each room of the building thanks to an inner courtyard.
EYFS is an integral part of the school and provides an excellent base from which the children progress into a more formal learning environment as they enter the Primary school. Experienced and qualified teachers and assistants support children through structured play experiences, offering open-ended learning and opportunities for child-initiated projects. There is a strong emphasis on social and emotional development as a means by which children develop their skills of independence, problem solving and confidence.
The EYFS classrooms on each of the Primary campuses are self-contained units. This ensures that the children feel safe and comfortable in a secure environment. However, as these young children develop confidence in their surroundings, there are opportunities for them to use other facilities within the school. This gives them access to a large library, music rooms, ICT rooms, a sports hall and a swimming pool.
