The VGBC is undertaking a review the LOTUS Accredited Professionals program.  The LOTUS AP program was established in 2012 to provide training and accreditation to professionals in the green building sector in Vietnam. Completion of a course and exam gave professionals new skills in assessing and implementing green building strategies under the LOTUS green building certification system. Over the last three years, the LOTUS AP program has conducted 9 training workshops and has accredited over 150 professionals.

In August 2015, the VGBC Executive Committee agreed that the LOTUS AP program should be reviewed to strengthen the program, bring it into line with international standards and create more opportunities for LOTUS APs. This review has culminated in the Draft LOTUS AP Framework which provides the rules and regulations for gaining accreditation, renewing accreditation, and practicing as a LOTUS AP. The Framework also sets out the LOTUS Fellow program as well as new VGBC awards for LOTUS APs.

The Draft LOTUS AP Framework prescribes some significant changes to the way the existing LOTUS AP program operates. These changes include:

  • Introduction of new training methods including online independent learning;
  • Details for the process of renewing you LOTUS AP accreditation;
  • A new Continuing Professional Development component;
  • A new Code of Conduct which all LOTUS APs must abide by;
  • The LOTUS Fellow program;
  • A new awards program for LOTUS AP and LOTUS certified projects.

The VGBC is inviting industry feedback of the Draft LOTUS AP Framework from 7 December – 21 December 2015. The VGBC is hoping to gain feedback from existing LOTUS APs, real estate and construction professionals, green building professionals and the general public. This feedback will be assessed and considered prior to the finalisation of the LOTUS AP Framework. The Draft LOTUS AP Framework can be downloaded from the VGBC website in English. If you require a copy of the Draft LOTUS AP Framework in Vietnamese, please contact the VGBC. Submissions can be made in writing by either email or post, or in a face to face discussion with VGBC staff.

It is expected that the Framework will be released in early January 2016 and come into effect 1 February 2016.
