Demand for future urban development – Applying LOTUS for real estate

Vietnam Green Building Council (VGBC) has introduced a rating system for green buildings called LOTUS and encouraged developers of real estate projects in cities acround the country to participate in this green programme in order to save energy and help protect the environment, which is worsening.

Accordingly, LOTUS rating system assesses projects through criterion such as energy efficiency, water, materials, environment protection, waste reduction, living environment of the community as well as effects of the project to surrounding social environment. Green buildings can save 30% of average energy use, 35% reduction of carbon emmission, saving 30-50% of water consumption and 50-90% of waste treatment cost.
