Công trình Tòa nhà Xanh Một Liên Hợp Quốc tại Hà Nội là dự án đầu tiên trong số 16 dự án thí điểm trên toàn thế giới, tập hợp nhiều cơ quan của Liên Hợp Quốc làm việc trong cùng một công trình nhằm tăng cường cơ hội cộng tác.
Dự án bao gồm hoạt động cải tạo, bố trí lại mặt bằng một công trình sẵn có kết hợp xây mới trên nền diện tích 2500 m2. Một sảnh lớn ở tầng trệt đón chào đối tác đến trung tâm hội nghị với một sân khấu có sức chứa đến 200 người và không gian họp mặt trang trọng. Một khu vực cafe mở được thiết kế nhằm tạo một không gian thuận tiện cho việc trao đổi giữa các nhân viên và đối tác. Ngoài ra, trong khuôn viên toà nhà còn có một cơ quan du lịch – lữ hành, một ngân hàng, và một cơ sở học tập – nghiên cứu.
Việc tham vấn ý kiến của các bên liên quan và quá trình xem xét thiết kế chặt chẽ cũng đã được thực hiện để đảm bảo các nhân viên Liên Hợp Quốc được tham gia và đóng góp ý kiến trong quá trình thực hiện dự án.
Sau khi đạt Chứng nhận LOTUS Vàng tại Giai đoạn Chứng nhận Tạm thời, dự án quyết định thực hiện mức chứng nhận cao hơn tại Giai đoạn Chứng nhận Chính thức. Tháng 5/2017, dự án đã xuất sắc đạt được Chứng nhận LOTUS Bạch kim với hệ thống LOTUS NR V2.0.
Tính năng bền vững của tòa nhà gồm có mái xanh, cảnh quan sân vườn ít yêu cầu tưới tiêu, sử dụng các thiết bị tiết kiệm nước, các thiết bị chiếu sáng và điều hòa không khí có hiệu năng cao, sử dụng vật liệu có nồng độ VOC thấp, tận dụng và tái sử dụng các vật liệu tái chế và các tấm quang điện cung cấp khoảng 10% tổng nhu cầu năng lượng.
